"Pumpkin Man"
One summer my wife and I were driving down country roads in North Alabama and came across Mr. Hawkins and his wife. They were sitting on the front porch of their farmhouse. We stopped and asked if I could take their picture. When he found out I was an artist, he wanted us to come out in the field and see his prize pumpkin. He had it covered up with leaves to protect it from the sun. As you can see in the picture, it was a whopper, measuring 36 inches in diameter and according to Mr. Hawkins it was still a baby with a long time to grow. He told me he was growing it in hopes of winning the prize for the largest pumpkin at the county fair.
